Final formal consultation

The draft village design statement which has been through various stages of consultation in the parish and approved by Sway Parish Council has been forwarded to the New Forest National Park Authority (NFNPA) in order that it can begin the process of formally being adopted as a Supplementary Planning Document. This will mean the Sway VDS becomes a material consideration in any planning applications relating to the parish.

It is a requirement that the NFNPA undertakes a further formal consultation, to include statutory organisations and other interested groups in the Forest, which will run for 6 weeks from the 3rd June to 15th July. Any further comments from residents are welcome during this time. Please refer to their website at http://www.newforestnpa.gov.uk   if you wish to comment.

It is intended that the final version of the Village Design Statement will be presented for adoption as a Supplementary Planning Document at the full Authority meeting on 26th  September 2013.

The Results Are In!

The Questionnaire for the Village Design Statement has now closed. 509 responses were eventually received – an excellent 28% response rate. The results from the questionnaire are now available online; just go to the Questionnaire page, or click <here>.

A massive Thank You to everyone who took the time to complete the questionnaire.

QUESTIONNAIRE UPDATE

Sway Village Design Statement (SVDS) Steering Group would like to thank the hundreds of residents of Sway who completed the design questionnaire, whether on line or in paper format. 509 were returned, and thus with your help we have been able to achieve a staggering return rate of 28% of all those sent out – way above the national average.

Our aim was that all Sway residents would be able to have their say and to ensure that we captured all comments the deadline was extended and additional copies were made available in the newsagents.

The steering group have now input all the paper copies on line and if you are interested in seeing the results they are now on the Questionnaire page for all to see.

As you are aware the SVDS is primarily about design but an additional general comment box was included so that you were able to raise other issues that were of concern to you. Over three quarters of respondents took the opportunity to fill in this box, highlighting concerns, raising issues and making suggestions. We will categorise these and forward them on to the appropriate authorities.

WHAT NEXT

Over the last year the steering group collated information by setting up interest groups who gathered information on topics such as Sway’s location & history, design & settlement, access & transport, community facilities, land use and economy.

This information formed the basis of the public consultation event held earlier this year. Many residents attended and we received over 200 separate items of feedback.

It is now our intention to write up a draft supplementary planning document using all the feedback obtained; as it is the unique understanding of all residents and appreciation of our local environment that will form the basis of the SVDS.

As a reminder the SVDS will not stop change from happening but it can help influence new building / extension details such as design and materials and to ensure it makes a positive contribution to the immediate environment.

It is hoped that the SVDS will be ready in draft form in early 2013 and Sway Parish Council will be kept fully informed of its progress. In addition the New Forest National  Park Authority (NFNPA) have a set process for adoption including further consultation which can be seen on their website, and this can take several months to complete.

Thank You!

The Steering Group would like to give a big “Thank You” to everyone who has taken the time to complete a questionnaire. Over 450 have been returned so far which is a great response. Although we are no longer accepting paper copies of the questionnaire the online version will remain available until 11th November 2012. So, if you haven’t yet filled out the questionnaire please click <HERE> now to add your opinions to those already collected – it only takes a few minutes to complete.

Analysis of the responses will start after 11th November. A report summarising the results will be published on this site by the end of November.

Questionnaire Deadline Extended!

The deadline for submitting your online questionnaire, or returning your paper version, has been extended until Sunday 4th November. Due to some delays in getting all the questionnaires delivered it has been decided to allow everyone an extra week to return their questionnaires. Please remember you can complete the questionnaire online <here> or return your paper copy to Sway Newsagents. If you prefer to complete a paper questionnaire and have not yet had one delivered you can pick up a copy at Sway Newsagents or download and print one from <here>.

Questionnaire Now Available

The Steering Group has been working hard for the last few weeks to produce a questionnaire for everyone in the parish to complete. This is the next stage of the public consultation and is very important in helping to shape the final Village Design Statement. The questionnaire is available online by going to the Questionnaire page and we would urge you to use this option if possible. If you prefer to complete a paper version then one will be delivered to every household in Sway in week beginning 8th October. More than one person in a household can complete the questionnaire online and if someone else in the household wants to complete a paper version they can download and print one from <here>. Completed paper questionnaires should be returned by hand to Sway Newsagents after 8th October.

PLEASE DO NOT COMPLETE A PAPER QUESTIONNAIRE IF YOU HAVE ALREADY FILLED ONE IN ONLINE.

Questionnaire Update

The team responsible for producing the questionnaire for the Village Design Statement have now produced their first draft. The questionnaire requires approval from the VDS Steering Group, the National Park Authority and Sway Parish Council. It is planned to get final approval for the questionnaire at the Parish Council meeting in August. The questionnaire will then be sent to every household in Sway parish, and will also be available on-line.
